(37,324 posts)that gave cover to the Big Operations. Brexit and Trump (leading to a nuclear middle-east). It was the old Russian Honeytrap ploy.
This overall operation took years to plan and execute. I also think that the Russians underestimated the number of Americans who were eager to betray their country.

(5,954 posts)Her job was just to funnel Russian money into the NRA, so that the NRA could give it to Republican candidates. And Russia KNEW that Republican governments are GOOD for Russia these days. That's one of the main news stories that's getting buried under the shitstorm of Trump news these days. The question of WHY did Putin thought Republican government was good for RUSSIA.
But Butina, she was just a small time clown that they assumed would never be seriously investigated. If that particular branch of the operation was really important, they wouldn't have sent a Russian honey trap to do it. They'd probably have sent a Russian spy to pay off an AMERICAN woman to do it. (Or maybe an 'Italian' woman, as was the case with George 'Pizza face' Papadopoulous.)

She is meh.
I guess when you are trying to impress a bunch of dirty old men, you don't have to send the very best.
I know this deserves a spanking for being non-PC so I will just take care of that myself.

She is not "betray-your-Country-and-risk-jail-time" cute.

(5,954 posts)...I'm pretty sure Butina would sue you for claiming there was any connection between her and that turd-helmet David Clarke.
PS-I hear 'Brian' from Office Space got Clarke's uniform after he quit. 37 pieces of flair, and all...

Junior slept in that shirt for at least a week,
and Clarke was rushed to the photo op too fast to re-tuck that shirt tail.
