Roger Stone: Trump averted a 'coup' by Mike Pence when Nick Ayers declined chief of staff job

Longtime Trump ally and right-wing dirty trickster Roger Stone said on Monday that President Donald Trump averted a “coup” when Nick Ayers turned down the opportunity to be his new chief of staff.

Writing on his Instagram page, Stone hinted that Ayers, the outgoing chief of staff for Vice President Mike Pence, was part of a broader conspiracy to bring down Trump. 'Coup inside the White House by VP Mike Pence averted!” Stone said, while posting a New York Times story about Ayers turning down the job. “Thank God!”

Stone, who has a long history of peddling blatant lies about his political opponents, offered no evidence to support his claim that Pence was plotting a coup against the president.

Stone recently earned praise from the president for flat-out refusing to cooperate with special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation of Russian interference during the 2016 presidential election. Among other things, Mueller has been investigating Stone’s regular boasts of being in contact with WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange and whether Assange gave him early information about future leaks of Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta’s stolen emails.

I know a number of Freepers don't trust or like Pence and this may feed their fears.

The coup would have been precipitated by Trump asking him in the first place.

So, Stone Brain, the coup was Trump's idea to bring himself down?

Ayers rejected the offer. Nice try, Stone but contention doesn't hold up.
