Is the current situation with Mr. Trump the TV show "Dragnet" or a "Super Bowl" game? Dragnet was a TV show with a pair of policemen who always captured the criminal. The leader was an officer named Sargent Friday. Sargent Friday had years of experience in capturing all kinds of criminals. Once in a great while there was some kind of variation of this. Nevertheless, we knew how it was going to end. The criminal would be captured and sentenced, and we would always see that sentence at the end of the show.
..Super Bowl is a game that we do not know the end. Anything can happen and the game goes into extra sessions if necessary. There is no special pattern and no predictable end. Sometimes the game is totally one sided, and other times it is so close that nobody knows how it will end. And the show could go on a lot longer than anyone would expect. Also, no one knows the winner ahead of time.
My opinion is, it is "Dragnet." While any thing could happen in some aspects of the case, I believe the question is not if Mr. Trump will be found guilty, but what type of crime and when will he be found guilty. Will the show continue a few weeks, or months? In the end, I think Mr. Trump will be found guilty, and the sentence for him and his gang will be totally announced. Some of the announcements have already been made, but others are to be determined. And this officer, Mr. Mueller, like Sargent Friday, will get the whole gang. Also, like Sargent Friday, Mr. Mueller has plenty of experience in capturing criminals and gangs. This is not his first program.

(38,449 posts)Of course, I did a spell check, but it didn't catch the error, because although I didn't spell the word correctly, I did spell a real and totally different word. Oh well, worse things have happened than spelling words wrong.

(38,449 posts)It was a phrase that everyone knew when the show was popular. And it was very popular..In the 50s, it was in the top ten. It had a come-back in the 70s.but I don't remember how popular it was then.

Not that witches should get the bad rap either.

(50,566 posts)The crimes on Dragnet were real crimes. Jack Webb picked interesting crimes out of the records of the LAPD, and turned them into TV scripts.
