many people there don't like the prospect for obvious reasons. A nationwide revote would surely shoot Brexit down

Fwiw, from what I read May's not into resigning. She did call for a new election that time, hoping to increase her majority, and ended up losing. She could try it again or call for a new Brexit referendum, but Parliament would have to agree and unfortunately the article doesn't guess how likely that'd be.
