The Republicans want us to believe that the more we talk about impeachment, the more it will piss off their voters and the better they will do in the next election. They use the Bill Clinton example.
However, that is their public stance. In private, I doubt that to be the case? Any talk of impeachment tends to focus on the crimes of Donald Trump and the Republicans. That is hardly a winner.
Many Democrats tend to shy away from the topic for the same reason. They believe the Republicans paid a big price when they impeached Bill Clinton. Not only was that a totally different situation, it was a different time and place. There is little correlation between the two.
In my opinion, the Republicans, in private, would prefer that the word "impeachment" never be brought up in discussion at all. It is not a winning issue for them.
The Democrats, in my opinion, should keep the issue of impeachment hanging over their heads but not carry thru until they have enough evidence to convince the average voter that, indeed, crimes have been committed. It is a winning political issue and they should be in no hurry to dispose of it. Nobody rushes to the front to defend Judas.
