(6,709 posts)my first thought, too. This entire "administration" is pure evil and I would like trials held for all of them, especially over this kind of thing.

(26,775 posts)This video has crossed the internet multiple times... just waiting for us to express outrage at Trump
The problem is that the video is from 2013 and the group that created it (the ones leaving the water) say that it happened sever hundred times (representing thousands of gallons of water) between 2012-2015.

(15,320 posts)What is your theory on what happened to the 7 year old, then?
maxsolomon
(33,432 posts)what happened to the 7-year old is that she was not given proper medical treatment when taken into custody - she needed an IV.
negligence, not malice. the usual story.

(19,213 posts)When this occurred is not important, what's important is the fact that we have a President calling immigrants animals and criminals and saying we need to make things hell for them. If this was done under Obama, it was done against Obama's will and against the compassion he represented.
Immigrants are dying because Trump wants them to die.

if you've ever lived near the border during the last 50 or so years, you would know that this is what happens with regularity.

(5,812 posts)Maybe some will look at their 7-year-old and think about the horror of the death of the child the border patrol starved of water. I doubt it, but maybe some will come over from the Trump dark side.

(21,160 posts)But the tweet is in error. Trump policies didn't have anything to do with this 2013 incident. Our hateful polices long preceded him; he simply wants to make them worse.

(24,341 posts)very sadistic bastards working for the border patrol. Probably always have been. Trump's policies will only encourage and enable them.

(34,117 posts)Please don't use videos of events cannot be attributed to Trump to illustrate Trump's hateful policies.
(I know you didn't created the meme, but especially since the time stamp is right on the video, it would be good not to perpetuate a false meme. Particularly when the border patrol activities are attributable to Obama, rather than Trump, to the extent they are attributable to the person in the White House at the time of the activites.)

(7,805 posts)Are you arguing theres no policy, current day, to dump water?
Can you be so obtuse to the fact the girl died - not of just malnutrition - But due to dehydration?
Nobody said the pic waz this week.
It is just a matter of irony..

(658 posts)are totally off base.
The POINT is not that these A-holes have been pouring out water or even that the photo is from when Obama was in office and therefore the right-wingers are baiting the left with its distribution. The girl died because she did not receive a proper medical evaluation upon arrival at the detention center.
The point is that children who've been exposed to the elements for days on end are simply being thrown into holding areas without any consideration. And that is what happened to this little girl.
So, please stop focusing on what these creeps have been doing for years and focus on the fact that a child died IN the detention center because no one cared enough to check her for injuries, heat exhaustion, dehydration, starvation, nothing. They treated her worse than they would a dog.
Let that sink in and then focus your rage where it actually belongs in this instance - at Trump, his administration and at CBP & DHS. All of them deserve to rot in hell for basically discarding a child like trash.

(11,755 posts)The first thing that should have been done is a health screening on the people, to make sure they were okay, not carrying any illnesses that could spread among other refugees, etc... They were held without attention for an hour and a half. Children and elderly are especially vulnerable and they should receive immediate medical attention.
Charlotte Little
(658 posts)to think how she must have been suffering. No food or water for days and finally she is taken in - only to be ignored.
She died of dehydration and shock. It is just unbearable to think that could happen to such a tiny little soul.

(11,755 posts)And it is utterly despicable of right wing idiots to blame the family for bringing their daughter, trying to seek safety and shelter. People think that immigrants just up and decide to travel all the way from Central America to the US "just because". Utter bullshit. Those people are deciding between certain death and possible death, with the hope that they will get to the US and not have to face those choices constantly.
Our immigration policy needs to begin with one simple rule. Stop helping to mess up the countries in Latin America which creates the push to emigrate in the first place. The US has been messing in Latin America since the late 1700's and it has not been for the benefit of the people. Our Drug appetite and our Drug War are largely driving the power of the gangs and the violence. Our "intervention" in the elections and political system in Latin American countries has facilitated the instability and the civil wars that have engulfed the region.
Most Americans don't ever see that so they can say, "Well they shouldn't have crappy countries and come over here" or some other sanctimonious bullshit.
