Both Russian and US forces do it all the time just to poke at each other and test each other’s defense and early warning systems.

While they can both get carried away sometimes, it’s not abnormal.

It’s a way to show off new systems and equipment, remind the other they are still in the game. Carry over from the Cold War days.
If it was meant to be hostile, we would know it. There would be no ambiguity at all. It would be very obvious and overt. This is nothing to get excited about.

Actually, occasional things like this are actually a positive sign. The incursion was minor and civil. It means we are still in a “Cold War” status and a long ways from a “hot” one.

but US Navy ships were involved in two confrontational maneuvers last week...one near Japan aimed at Russia and one near Taiwan aimed at China. American aircraft also flew into Ukrainian airspace last week as part of a NATO operation.
