Scares me that I don't see any downside for Trump in extending the shutdown until he gets his wall.

Equally scary: I don’t see any upside for congressional Republicans voting with Democrats to override a Trump veto.

Well, there is that minor issue of well-being of the country and the American people.

Really? You don't think that government employees themselves will be okay with the shut down? PoindexterOglethorpe Dec 2018 #1

You don't think that the National Parks and Monuments that will close in a shutdown won't affect Trump voters?

Certainly, if there is a shutdown, Dems need to be front and center everywhere making sure people really do understand who caused it and why.

Trump is a literal boil on the ass of humanity and the GOP are the fetid pus from that boil. They are equal parts disgusting and pathetic and criminal.

This nation needs a reckoning...it must confront its racial past, atone and move ahead, but as long as the GOP continues to see electoral successes like 2010, 2014, 2016 and is allowed to saunter around in a fantasy that 2018 was not an utter repudiation and Blue Wave, then we remain locked in place and spinning our wheels...

If it takes another round of pointless government shut down and economic pain at the holidays to put this albatross around their necks, then it appears we are heading that way now...

I’ll rephrase that to say if the government is shut down federal employees (not all) won’t get paid.

This means they will have to be extremely vocal with new progressive legislation to depict the GOP as obstructionist as the corporate media is already trying to hang it on Dems.

Trump says he would be proud to shut down the government. It’s on him.
