1.Lie outright and say the evidence is false, just like other people often do, or 2. Stand up and tell what is the truth. We knew and did nothing for whatever reason. What is it going to be?..
Yes, Michigan State had people who knew about the Nassar scandal, most are gone. I saw in the news that a few months ago, Michigan State has agreed to pay out $500,000,000 to settle law suits. Other law suits are moving forward. Nassar sexually molested dozens if not hundreds of students during his tenure as doctor at MSU.
..Johnson and Johnson has already started to follow course #1. But the higher ups got to make the decision. Just like MSU has made a decision and just like Trump has already decided about the "truth" and "lies." Johnson and Johnson has got to make a decision. That will be made by the CEO and the Board of Directors, and some other higher ups. It looks like some people in the company knew that asbestos was in baby powder and kept it quiet. The stock tanked 10 percent today.
That company's reputation has been outstanding. Their products haven't caused problems for years. People have been purchasing their Baking Soda for decades along with the baby powder and other household products. It will be interesting to see what they do. This is a new scandal that came out the last few days. But, according to some reports there has been evidence of the asbestos in baby powder for many years. Will Johnson and Johnson..."Tell the Truth" or "Tell a Lie?." The future is uncertain on this one. I will admit that I don't have a clue on this.

(38,424 posts)..I mentioned that in the OP because people have trusted this company for their Baking Soda product for decades..That is not at issue here. It is the Baby Powder that has found to have asbestos, not the Baking Soda. If what are people going to think about all their products?

(38,424 posts)In 1965 Ralph Nader wrote "Unsafe At Any Speed" It shocked the world about how the auto world resisted safety improvements in cars. The Chevrolet Corvair was the most well known of the culprits, but the auto industry in general was at fault. So over time things have been forgotten. Yes, General Motors still makes cars and that company makes lots and lots of money. But in the late 60s and 70s some new companies entered the U.S. marketplace. Not new, but new to our market. Selling cars like VW, Honda and something called Toyota. At first people were reluctant but many took a chance on these companies..(yes, VW was around, but it made one very small car that was small and not very comfortable)
In 10 or 15 years word got out. These new company's cars lasted 180,000 miles and more. Many years without a break down. It is not that U.S companies couldn't make cars like that, but they didn't. General Motors wasn't going to change their business model for these upstarts. Maybe the awful made Corvair had something to do with it. Maybe "Unsafe at Any Speed" had something to do with it. Who knows?..
..My Ford Taurus broke down in the middle of Wyoming 45 miles from nowhere in 1997. It had 80,000 miles on it.. Thank goodness a Wyoming state truck came by and called for a tow truck.. Lander Wyoming was my home for a while.. I found a dealer and yes, he fixed it. Yes it was a Ford Dealer, and it was a Ford. So, I guess the dealer fixed it. Other stuff went wrong with that car after I got home from Wyoming. In todays money it cost about $5,000 to get that car fixed in Lander Wyoming. I bought the Ford because it was USA built and delivered .....
That was my turning point. Next year I bought a Toyota, then a couple of years ago, another Toyota. No more Ford Taurus, or Dodge Dart like in the past.
