Abrams and Gillum

I just feel like reminding everyone that Stacey Abrams and Andrew Gillum are extremely impressive and should have a future in national politics. Both were victimized by intense voter suppression and blatant racism, including robocalls. Yet both came damn close to overcoming those obstacles in states that are typically quite red in midterm elections.

I hope that both Abrams and Gillum, if they don't run for statewide office again, consider running for the US House or US Senate or get offered cabinet posts in the next Democratic administration. Or maybe even get considered for VP.

I mean?

When I enthuse about Stacey I'm told, "She's very impressive. But she needs to be Senator first. Or Governor of Georgia."

Cool. Okay.

But then I'm getting Beto pushed at me?

2. I don't think Beto should be our presidential nominee.

Beto does have federal government experience, unlike Abrams and Gillum, but I don't think he should get any consideration beyond VP. I rather hope he doesn't seek the nomination. I'd prefer to see him use his star power to campaign for the nominee, and maybe run against Cornyn in 2020.

I like Gillum and Garcetti, but mayor to POTUS is a huge leap that has never been made. And state representative to POTUS is also quite the leap.

abashed if my own Congressperson wasn't a multi-term absolute waste of makeup.

I don't know where you are in the PNW but if you are anywhere near Clark County in Washington you know what I mean.

Both Abrams and Gillum could pursue other positions, as I said. But VP isn't out of the question.
