That we can't count on the SC to strike down his ruling! Remember two new judges added by Trump! I hope the SC will look at the law and not who they are supporting?

(33,345 posts)without the individual mandate, the ACA can't function. Of course, Rubio's 2012 sabotage hurt nearly as much.
the GOP couldn't outright repeal it, but like so many components of the government, they crippled it.

(24,412 posts)The *good news* is that this ruling may turn out to be too much for even some Republicans and the Roberts court has already swatted down two (stronger?) challenges to the law. Granted, Gorsuch and Kavanauh have since been added to the Court and it's hard to know where they will fall but, assuming our side holds out (RGB, Breyer, Sotomayor, Kagan), there's a pretty good chance IMHO Roberts will side with them. There's already a lot of headscratching- even on the conservative side- about this ruling.

(115,691 posts)I think that court will overturn the decision, and it might not even be appealed to the Supreme Court because it's such a political stink bomb for the GOP. If it does make it to the Supreme Court I doubt very much that even Trump's appointees will agree with the district court's decision, because it was contrary to a lot of established law having to do with the severability of statutory provisions.

(50,271 posts)We went for nearly 10 years without health insurance (self-employed with pre-existing conditions) and it was nothing short of a miracle we lived through it without going bankrupt. I'll always be grateful for Obamacare when I needed it most. Now I'm on Medicare and that's been fine, too.
