Trump's charitable foundation will close after being accused of "a shocking pattern of illegality"

Trump Foundation to Close After Lawsuit by New York Attorney General
President Trump’s charitable foundation will close after being accused of “a shocking pattern of illegality” by New York’s attorney general.

The Donald J. Trump Foundation will close following a court decision that allowed a lawsuit against the foundation to move forward, the New York attorney general’s office announced Tuesday.

The attorney general, Barbara Underwood, accused the foundation of “a shocking pattern of illegality” that was “willful and repeated” and included unlawfully coordinating with Mr. Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign.

“This amounted to the Trump Foundation functioning as little more than a checkbook to serve Mr. Trump’s business and political interests,” Ms. Underwood said. - NYT

Muller needed it to stay open while he investigated that "shocking pattern."

Now, Mueller is not objecting.

This is good, it means he got all the evidence he needed.

Don't tell Trump.......shhhhhh...

Who accused the Clinton's of running a corrupt and criminal foundation when all along he was. trump accuses others of his criminal behavior often. When he accuses someone of doing something illegal its often him that's doing it , like with this foundation he used as his personal piggy bank.

The closure of the foundation is a milestone in the investigation. But the broader lawsuit, which also seeks millions in restitution and penalties and a bar on President Trump and his three oldest children from serving on the boards of other New York charities, is proceeding.

Ms. Underwood and a lawyer for the foundation signed the stipulation agreeing to the dissolution. The foundation’s remaining assets are to be redistributed under judicial supervision.

What happens to other people who use their position in a charity for self-enrichment? Do they just pay a little of the loot they stole back and go on their merry way? From way back in July 2018, a simpler time:

Former NBA player Washington sentenced for charity fraud

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Former NBA player Kermit Washington has been sentenced to six years in federal prison for spending hundreds of thousands of dollars in charity donations on vacations, shopping sprees and plastic surgery for his girlfriend.

The U.S. attorney's office said in a news release that the 66-year-old Las Vegas man was also ordered Monday to pay nearly $970,000 in restitution after pleading guilty in November to making a false statement in a tax return and aggravated identity theft.

That's what happens to you when your name isn't Donald Trump.
