I just recently figured out that the live audio stream for MSNBC is FREE on Tunein.com.
I hardly listen to NPR anymore.
the coverage of all the investigations on MSNBC has been incredible. I hope a lot of people are listening/watching.
so for those who don't know, you don't need to pay for the video stream. the audio does quite well and it's free.

(22,571 posts)But I also use Tunein as well. MSNBC does not provide me with any local or state news or stories.

(11,648 posts)Sounded like Fox News. Since I stopped contributing, it was only consistent that I stop listening as well.

(62,411 posts)other than that it is usually FreespeechTV during the day - you can get it on your computer: https://freespeech.org/watch-live/
We got a computer radio to listen to KTNF in Minneapolis or WCPT in Chicago
We dip in and out of MSNBC during the day.
We are retired so we usually have some noise going on.

(2,886 posts)this afternoon when they started a report about the prison bill by bragging about Kushner and how he was totally responsible for this bill (how does that work?) and went into audio of a Kush being interviewed by Hannity...I'm done with them (as far as news anyway).

(37,648 posts)It also depends on the show.
If you hear something on NPR that is unfavorable to Trump, you know it's true and not slanted because it tries to be neutral.
Kushner IS the one who is responsible for the prison reform bill. It was his pet project. Like it or not, that is the truth. But playing an interview of him with Hannity is a bit much. I would have turned that off.
I suspect he's sympathetic to prisoners because his father was in prison for a long time for fraud. And don't forget that Kim Kardashian spoke with Trump about it and got a woman prisoner pardoned by him.
But I don't listen to NPR very often. I listen to MSNBC since I discovered the live radio streaming of it on Tune-In a couple of months ago. It's more interesting than NPR. And my favorite shows are on MSNBC.

(15,536 posts)You're missing the point of the post. Like others, I stopped listening to NPR during Dubya's term. They aren't even trying to be neutral any longer.

(38,958 posts)I avoid, both on TV and radio. I find them simply filling air time with 24/7 Breathless, Breaking Noise to get to the next set of commercials for drugs I never knew I needed.
NPR while certainly not perfect covers topics that are generally interesting and does so at a far lower decibel level. I prefer no one yelling at either me or each other.

(1,117 posts)NPR has a strange angle - their news is effectively owned by all their member stations, who depend on donations. And many of the donations come from corporate advertising. I think this is why NPR is so aggressively bothsidesist and gives the right ample time to tell lies without challenge.

(58,724 posts)She does a great job of breaking things down but can be redundant sometimes. On the whole, I like her show a lot.

(37,648 posts)I listen to it on my Roku. If I want to see the video, the shows show later on Pluto and Xumo, two free streaming apps.
A perk, for those who have a data cap, is that streaming podcasts and live sound-only shows uses much less data than streaming video.

(9,942 posts)for the first 50 years of television, it was free because of the advertising.
advertising on tv put me through college (my father worked at a tv station).
tunein is just like that.

(22,571 posts)and we can't abide hearing things that don't perfectly line up with our pure and noble virtues and philosophy, perfectly convinced that only we are righteous and the other side are obviously evil liars.
But are we really that insecure that we need to have our beliefs constantly reinforced? Is it possible for somebody to have a valid point of view even though we don't agree with it? Do we really need to condemn NPR for daring to present an opposing side to a story or issue that does not line up with our tribal view? Or are we just the other side of the coin of the Fox News devotees?

(9,942 posts)weekday programming and news coverage that I am done with. our country is under attack and they seem to be treating it like any other news story. MSNBC is taking this seriously and i'm so happy i found the audio stream for free. I almost signed up for expensive TV service just to get it.
