During his annual Q&A with domestic and foreign media, Putin was asked by the Chicago Tribune what he thought of President Donald Trump's decision to withdraw U.S. troops, and his claims that the war against the Islamic State had been won.

"Donald is right, and I agree with him," Putin said.
