"Reconciliation is a legislative process of the United States Congress that allows expedited passage of certain budgetary legislation on spending, revenues, and the federal debt limit with a simple majority vote in both the House (218 votes) and Senate (51 votes). Senate rules prohibit filibustering and impose a 20-hour cap on the total time for debate, motions and amendments related to reconciliation bills. The procedure also exists in the House of Representatives, but the House regularly passes rules that constrain debate and amendments, so reconciliation has had a less significant impact on that body.[1]"

Didn't they argue over voting on this issue when Trump, Pelosi and Shumer met last week?

He watches FOX on TV and listens to RW radio and then reacts--usually by tweet--to whatever they say.

She told him he didn't have the votes, but if he thought he did, hold the vote. He did nothing for a week and had no intention of holding a vote - because he didn't have the votes - UNTIL the right wing went medieval on him today. THAT'S when he pulled out all the stops, called in his favors, made who knows what kind of threats to get exactly the number of votes he needed - 217 and not one more - to drag this thing over the line.

Given the way he was outclassed by Pelosi, I just wondered if he didn't stew over it and push to prove her wrong. However I saw reports that Pence assured everyone Trump would sign the CR, so I believe you are correct. He simply caved to the extremists. Still may have been outmaneuvered as now those who voted for the wall are on record and will be stuck with that vote in 2020. Not all are from far right districts I'm guessing. The Senate vote should be interesting
