Rubio: Mattis resignation shows US headed toward 'grave policy errors'

Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) warned that Defense Secretary James Mattis’ resignation announcement suggests the White House is headed down a foreign policy path that could have “grave” consequences.

“Just read Gen. Mattis resignation letter. It makes it abundantly clear that we are headed towards a series of grave policy errors which will endanger our nation, damage our alliances & empower our adversaries,” Rubio tweeted, following the announcement that Mattis would retire in February.

“I hope we who have supported this administration’s initiatives over the last two years can persuade the President to choose a different direction. But we must also fulfill our constitutional duty to conduct oversight over the policies of the executive branch,” he added.

Trump and Mattis were known to disagree on issues, among them rumored Trump’s stances toward NATO and Russia, banning transgender troops from serving in the military, canceling joint U.S.-South Korea military exercises, withdrawing from the Iran nuclear deal and deploying troops to the U.S.-Mexico border.

The defense secretary acknowledged the disagreements in his resignation letter, saying his views did not match the those of the commander-in-chief.

Every republican in the Senate should be talking with Democrats right now on how to take trump out of office, because they all know he should NOT be there! Before it is to late, they need to do their damned job!
