(15,536 posts)I usually try to catch the News Hour, but missed it today. Wow! I'm truly speechless. We here on DU knew this administration was a disaster and how dangerous that is, but to have these two men and Judy talk about how in peril our country is just send icy shivers down my spine.
The only optimistic things was the statement that it's the beginning of the end and that they feel the Mueller report is going to make the GOP take a stand against him. Everyone keeps talking about how they stay silent because they don't want to lose the base, but has it occurred to them that they are now between a rock and a hard place and nothing they do is going to make the GOP look good for many years. If those were the only two choices I had, I'd take the one to save the country, because what they call the "base" isn't going to win them any elections. They just don't have the numbers and I do believe that 40% that the media likes to tout isn't reality. I think it's closer to 30%.
I'm wondering if he's trying to start WWIII.

(130,895 posts)Michael Gerson:
Yes, I have heard one Republican today that I talked to say call this the beginning to have the end. They felt that.
That is going to be the only question, when the Mueller report comes out, and the strength of the report will determine that. I think there are at least some Republicans that are talking now that the president needs a challenge in the primaries, and that he needs to lose reelection.
And these are but, right now, these are not loud voices in the Republican Party, because the base has not turned. But you do hear that sort of talk among responsible Republicans.
Judy Woodruff:
Sober note at the end of a week, I think, like no other.
Mark Shields:
Like no other week.

(21,596 posts)The Republicans are ALL supporters of an evil, treasonous, and criminal president and his administration, which makes them all evil, treasonous and criminal cowards.
Ttey only care about money and power. They fear that Trump will campaign against them and that they will loose their seat in Congress, just like Mark Sanford (R-SC).
