The OP on the Green New Deal not being a new idea reminded me of when Jimmy Carter...

put solar cells on the WH roof which Reagan immediately had torn out when he took office.

It made me think of how far along towards technological and socio/economic development the country would have moved towards if repugs hadn't stolen the WH for Nixon, then Reagan/Daddy Bush, W Bush and now the orange pustule that is trump. All those regressive administrations put the brakes on so much it's almost incalculable.

IQ45 believes in "clean coal." Chances are we're gonna' see him open up a new chain of "TRUMP STABLES" - somebody's gonna' need to fix those buggies and shoe the horses, right?

....and they didn't specifically mention ketchup.

News reporters ridiculed the decision by equating what the USDA really implied "ketchup" and the story took off. NY Times op-ed writer/satirist Russell Baker (I loved that guy) seemed to the most fun with it.

Long, interesting entry about this on wikipedia here:

....yet any time anyone today wants to release some of that oil for any reason (generally to control skyrocketing prices) the REPUBLICANS scream and holler that "they're too important and strategic to tap into" (not exact quote)

It's a case of the republicans want their cake and eat it too.

our throats, kicking and screaming. Think of what could have happened had we elected McGovern, Gore, Kerry, Clinton in addition to our democratic presidents? We would be in a more peaceful, plentiful world. Not a utopia, but not the hellscape we live in today.

I still have copies of his Executive environmental studies and their recommendations. They covered the spectrum of solar, wind, and water.
