The Senate isn't supposed to return until Thursday (and, if you think they can suddenly call a special session and have everyone who just headed back home turn around and fly to Washington the day before Christmas Eve, you're dreaming...you wouldn't get enough for a quorum). So, even if everyone jumps on this counteroffer (which they won't), it will still take until the 27th or 28th to end the shutdown, leaving Trump stuck in D.C. over the Christmas break. But don't worry about Donnie...I'm sure he'll go spend a couple of weeks on vacation at Merde-a-Log-o as soon as the shutdown ends, whether he has business to conduct or not.
