viral fundraiser for Trump's border wall has fake news sites shut down by Facebook

Seems to me he is just another MEGA nutcase -but one who uses his physical tragedies to raise funds for the Wall.

I have not read much--just questions about how this money will actually be used to build the Wall. Anyone know?

NBC News says the founder of that viral fundraiser for Trump's border wall has a questionable past which included running fake news sites that were shut down by Facebook.

Brian Kolfage told NBC News he didn’t want to mention his previous projects because he “didn’t want it to be a distraction.”

An internet fundraiser for Donald Trump’s border wall took in more than $7 million from over 131,000 donors by early Thursday evening.

The Florida man behind the GoFundMe page, a triple-amputee Iraq War veteran named Brian Kolfage, spent a large portion of the fundraising campaign’s description outlining his past, including a bolded section titled “How do you know this is not a scam?”

He implored users to look up his history, pointing donors to his verified Facebook page, and saying “I'm credible and a real person.”

The pitch has worked. One anonymous donor gave over $50,000 to the cause at 4 p.m. on Thursday. The GoFundMe trended on Twitter most of Thursday and received widespread media attention.

“We have someone who is tied in with the White House that’s in their inner-circle,” Kolfage said. “We can work on a way where we can guarantee with a contract where [the funding] can only go to the wall.”

The fundraising page doesn’t mention Kolfage’s most recent business venture, a Facebook page titled Right Wing News and a ring of affiliate sites that frequently trafficked in conspiracy theories. In October, Right Wing News was pulled down by Facebook in a sweep of more than 559 pages that the company said were “using fake accounts… to drive traffic to their websites” or “were ad farms using Facebook to mislead people into thinking that they were forums for legitimate political debate.”.................................

Kolfage told NBC News he’s plans to rely on connections in the White House to make sure the wall is funded, saying “we have a lot of people watching this,” which would “serve as a motivating factor not to screw this up.”

1. Money has to be appropriated by Congress

There is no history of a public donation to the government for a specific project. Donated money would just go into general funds. Only Congress can allocate money for specific projects.

a portion of the wall with private funds. Wouldn't put it pass Trump to work a way to do this.

It would be on Federal land--the nutcase would have to purchase the land?? So many bad things have happened, that I am sure Trump has his lawyers working on a way to get around the law. Sorry, I know I been pessimistic.

7. There are a slew of established laws regarding this.

Imagine the chaos that would result if any gang of idiots could raise money and tell the government exactly how to use it. Why, I could get all my KKK friends to fund immigration internment camps specifically for black people, because how do we really know they're not actually from Kenya or Cameroon?

But, then, the laws could always change. I highly doubt it, though, with a Democratic house now in effect.

Anyway, this is all moot. There's no way this particular project ends in anything other than embezzlement and fraud charges. Republicans LOVE fleecing their fellow rubes, because it really is like taking candy from a baby.

8. Is there any coordination with the White House on this GoFundMe?

I don't see that there is, this guy is doing it all on his own. It's probably just another scam, like the homeless guy who bought gas for the woman with his last $20. The people who made the donations should be the ones complaining about fake account, but let's face it, they're already too stupid to do that.

"Wounded Veteran, who spends time on pushing conspiracies, takes initiative after Trump promised Mexico would pay for the entirety of the wall. GOP rep fails to see the irony in congratulating him."

6. How do you retire and not even make Sargent?

Don't most people make at least Staff Sargent before retirement?

The Air Force promotes an Airman First Class (A1C) to Senior Airman after 36 months time in service (TIS) and 20 months time in grade (TIG), or 28 months TIG, whichever occurs first. Outstanding Airmen First Class, limited to no more than 15 percent of the total, may be promoted to Senior Airmen six months early, in a competitive process called Below-the-Zone, which normally involves going before a competitive board. Senior Airmen are expected to be technically proficient and begin to develop leadership skills, and may be expected to supervise an Airman of lesser rank.
