Rep. Beto O'Rourke (D-Texas) on Sunday warned of a threat posed by President Trump, saying that the current government shutdown is "part of a larger threat to us all."
O'Rourke, writing in a post on Medium, suggested that the shutdown may have been "intended to happen" because Trump faces a number of dilemmas, including special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into Russian election interference and a tumbling stock market.
"But my concern for the country goes beyond the immediate pain and dysfunction that this shutdown will cause. Beyond even ensuring that this President is held accountable. Whats happening now is part of a larger threat to us all," he wrote.
He added that "if theres no way to count on government even functioning, then perhaps ultimately we become open to something else."

(36,547 posts)I will breathe a little bit easier on Jan 3, but even then, president shithole could do anything. He can't go back to his past life.

(67,112 posts)him. I was just reading his tweets. He sounds like a child on a rant. He has destroyed all sophistication of the presidency. In corporations where I've worked he would have been tossed out on his ear long ago as incompetent and untrustworthy.

(42,001 posts)It was remarkable-better journalism than I ever see. The town sounded like Chuhualito where apparently wall construction is supposed to be happening. Beto pointed out that the construction boss wouldnt let them come near because of safety considerations but border patrol had shown up and then left.
To show how weird this whole thing is, theres also an elevated highway there, and he pointed out that its on the Mexican side of the wall.
FUBAR, as my fathers military friends would have called it.
