Mnuchin showed the world that he and Trump have zero idea of what they are doing.

What an administration does in response to economic turmoil is what sets them apart. This one will do worse than nothing, they will surely make it all way worse.

Indeed, if the S&P 500 index SPX, -1.88% falls by at least 1% on Monday, it would mark the first Christmas Eve that the broad-market benchmark has booked a loss of 1% or greater — ever.


As it stands now, the S&P 500 was off by about 2% around midday, ahead of an early close, swept up in a selloff that also has the Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA, -2.22% and the Nasdaq Composite Index COMP, -1.25% saddled with ugly losses on the day before Christmas.
