Oh, but it does affect you.....

Scene: The company lunch room.

Dramatis Personae:
1. Trumpista pontificator (TP)
2. Gaggle of young, impressionable co-workers paying court to TP (Gaggle)
3. Me, eavesdropping from the adjacent table and playing buttinski (Me)

Act 1, Scene 1

TP: Good for Trump and the shutdown! We need that wall and screw a handful of federal bureaucrats who'll miss their paychecks.

Gaggle: <a few head-nods; murmur of agreement.>

Me: You know, we work for a company that contracts with the federal government. The agency we contract with is shutdown. The financial people at the agency aren't available to pay the company's invoices. That means our company doesn't get paid for the work your employer has you do under the terms of the contract.

If our company doesn't get paid, you better hope our employer has a muti-million dollar line of credit to use to get the money to issue your paychecks. Because until the shutdown ends, that money for your paycheck isn't coming from the federal government like it's supposed to. You better hope the shutdown ends soon.

Gaggle: <stunned silence>
TP: <pissed off silence>

what you were talking about. It most likely made sense to a degree but most of it went in one ear and out the other. They are so conditioned to not thinking for themselves that comprehending a rational point of view is not what they are used to doing. They likely went home, turned on Fux Ruse and were happy in their "think nothing" comfort zone.
