Take a guess who said this on Monday.

Not offering poll options.

If the big enemy bites the dust — and that’s what the wall going down meant. Oh, speaking of walls, how well did that one work? How well did the Berlin Wall work, folks? That kept the whole freaking nation imprisoned, didn’t it? Well, a whole half a nation. East Germany kept — in one city! It kept ’em imprisoned as communist slaves. Don’t tell me walls don’t work.

Gosh, ya think a border of under 100 mi would be easier to control than one that is almost 2000 miles?

Hmmmm

Who said it? A right-wingnut idiot. Tragically, there are far, far too many possibilities to choose from!

I heard it running last minute errands on Monday. I was cracking up when he said it. There was a noticeable pause before "Well, a whole half a country". He clearly stepped in it and in his mind probably thinks he walked out of it.

A very big reason I'm glad I'm TV and radio free.

Qin Sin Huang smartly befriended the Mongolians and used them as a natural barrier against any would be attackers. We went to the exhibit at the Kuseum of Fibe Arts that was billed around the terra Cora army but Qin was staggeringly brilliant.

that they built over 13,000 miles of wall. In the end it didn't matter at all. Today visitors flock to the wall and marvel at this feat of engineering and determination. What will the Rump's wall amount to (just assuming he did have it built) in fifty years? The Chinese were worried about keeping their border safe as early as the 8th century BCE. Qin Sin Huang was trying to unite China and prevent the rise of feudal lords, but he also continued building the wall. The wall continued to be built and repaired after him for another 1,800 years! I think it's interesting to study the path of the wall with all it's little offshoots and additions from the different periods. I'm sure the Rump would absolutely love to have the power of a Chinese emperor so that he could order his wall built.

You point out that maintenance (as we are always doing with the existing wall) is a necessary expense.

Trump can't spell Qin let alone be anywhere near him. Quin, as you probably know, went on extensive tours of the other provinces and allow them to keep their culture. He knew a dominant heavy handed approach would create more problems than it solved. The part that got me - and this was one little cube of the exhibit - was his standardization of weights and measures. This brought uniformity to trade. The roads helped too. I was floored by that. How brilliant.

My wife made a comment that might sound reflective of the articles point about westerners being unable to accept the developments of those they see as lessers: "I think he was a space alien". We laughed. She meant that he was so vastly intelligent and in a timeless way.

The details on the soles of the terra cota army's shoes speaks of the artisans. The fact that Qin planned on bringing a civic administration with him.....mind blown.
