2. Big question is does McConnell dislike the shutdown or cooperating with Democrats more?

Methinks he dislikes cooperating with Democrats more... which is bad in terms of ending the shutdown.

It would be trivially easy for Congress to decide they'd rather put all the blame for the shutdown on Trump and Paul Ryan, and pass a bill through both houses, then override Trump's veto... but that mean McConnell would have to choose Congress-exerting-power-over-POTUS over Repukes-exerting-power-over-Dems. When has he ever made that choice?

4. Pelosi had the turtle by the balls.

If he lets it come to the floor and the Senate passes it, then tRump has to really own it a veto it, or back down and sign it.

If he doesn't let it come to the floor, then the entire GOP has to own it, because the House passed a bill to end the shutdown and can't be blamed for it.
