is going to be built for that when the original estimate was 25B?
trump is out of his fucking, petulant mind over a silly concrete monument to himself and Pelosi/Schumer should never give in to what he promised Mexico would pay for.

(146,288 posts)That ought to fit into that budget, with plenty of room for grifting by the contractors.
Plus, if you hire undocumented workers with chain link fence experience, it will go up fast and you won't have to pay them a living wage. More room for the grift, eh?

(12,344 posts)It is similar to Trump's original steel slat design, but can be built at a fraction of the price. Notice the sharp spikes at top to discourage climbing over.

(9,213 posts)Companies. It's a negotiation tactic...ask for as much as possible and keep asking for less and less until they cave. No matter how much is approved, there will never be any wall built. He will funnel whatever he gets to one of his friends companies that will do some R & D for a few hundred grand and determine that they need 10 Billion to do the job. Then the original x billion will be forgotten.
Mark my words this is exactly what is going to happen. This is what professional construction cons do.

(3,020 posts)That would be 10,320+/- 1000ft rolls. Available at Amazon for $14.30 per roll, with free Prime shipping, for a total of $147,576.
A person could walk the rough ground at about 1 mph, so say a crew of two installers and two support crew could git-er-done in about one work-year -~2000 miles, with 2000 hours being a usual work year. A second install crew could cut it to a reasonable 6 months. That's six people at half a year's wage, less than another $150,000 and due date for completion midsummer. I expect the opening, or closing, ceremony would be at the AZ/NM border.
The condition is, DT and his sycophants have to unroll the last 250 miles. I'd pay money to see that. Otherwise nothing, they get nothing.

(855 posts)I think before they do anything else, that leftover funding needs to be reallocated to social security. In fact, all funds allocated but not spent should be redirected to social security. It won't match, but it would at least put a little back after all that's been robbed from it over the years.
