Reporters would have seen his helo take off or him head out in a motorcade. And his destination airport will be shut down while the plane approaches and lands. He then needs to get into mara-lago (another motorcade) and then guests will see him.

He gets bored in the oval office. No tv. The only actual meetings he has with other people are meals where he eats and they watch. So not being in the oval office isn't unusual.

But i really don't think he is in florida. I might be wrong, but moving him around isn't that stealthy and there are lots of witnesses around.

Plus, if he went, he would make a point of everybody knowing. It's all about him afterall, and that he can do whatever he wants.

If the goal is to make it to Mar-a-Lago for NYE, he'd be seen at the party, so there'd be no point in hiding his departure by flying out on a plane that would be too small for his communication and safety needs. Secret Service and Military would never let him travel that way.

21. It wasn't a fighter, it was a S-3B Viking, a four place, twin engine turbofan.

But, yes, there isn't anything much more dangerous in a non-combat situation than a carrier landing. Of course, W didn't have anything to do with flying it, although he claimed he did. It was a hugely expensive publicity stunt - the Mission Accomplished fiasco.

Wonder what we should expect from the pres - he didn't do so well stewing in the WH a week ago - and I get the feeling that NYE has more meaning to him (ala galas) than Christmas Eve.
