If I remember correctly, in Vonnegut's "Cat's Cradle" a man who commits suicide by

ingesting ice-nine says as he does so, "Thus I end the world." (I read the book about 50 years ago so the quote might not be 100% accurate.)

Of course, ice-nine does end life on earth.

I think that Trump has that sort of nihilistic inclination. He is 72, and almost certainly has few years left. Plus the Mueller investigation is threatening to end his presidency and possibly even his powerful rich man's lifestyle.

I think that Trump's narcissism, like Hitler's, would lead him to want to do as much damage as possible to everyone and everything thing that did not adore him the way he feels he deserves to be adored.

He will want to punish us all as severely as he can manage, and as president, he could manage quite a lot of damage.

As the Bush debacle already proved, we're all to some degree at the mercy of any given president's psychological hang-ups.

And Trump's nothing if not a megalomaniac.
