WILL the sheer ugliness of Trump in the 2020 campaign turn off voters outside of his base?

The reason I'm asking is because of his reaction to Elizabeth Warren declaring her intention to run. You've probably seen it. if you haven't, I'm not going to post it here.

My question is do you think the American voting public...NOT COUNTING the red hats...will sit home and watch Trump try to outdo the slime he threw in the primaries for 2016? Will the 2020 presidential election ALSO be a referendum on Trump, and will his behavior send votes to the Democrats in another "blue wave?"

that's for damn sure. And yes, I think the vast majority of Americans cringe at his vulgarity.

so what they do is keep repeating anything negative about the democrat while giving credit to republicans for any little thing.

... it will be interesting to see if the media changes their proclivity to do this. I suspect things will be a bit different this time around.

Dems might be running against an incumbent President Pence. A much scarier prospect.

...I'm just not sure of how the variables are going to play out.

1). A primary challenger gets the ticket

2). The noose tightens on Don Jr and Ivanka, and he cuts a deal to walk away to spare them (I don't believe he would do that)

3). He gets a dose of reality regarding the crimes he could be charged with immediately after leaving office and cuts a deal to walk away (I don't believe he'd do that either unless he was 100% convinced that the hammer would indeed fall)

4). He realize he had a good run in bilking the US out of hundreds of millions of dollars, got a paid golf vacation virtually every week, and more, and figures to cut his losses (I think his greed is bottomless, though).

I don't know...I'd be interested to know why you think he won't be the 2020 Republican candidate (in case I missed anything above).
