A question regarding the spokespeople who present political ads.

As DUer's/people usually do, when political ads are broadcast on tv, I hear the lies and say something like "What a bunch of crap and bullsh...etc"

My question is: Are the spokespeople who issue/speak the ads exempt from the laws that govern
libel and prosecution ?

I know it would be impossible to sue the RNC or any of the big Republican machines but could one sue the spokesperson for slander and/or lying??

Just curious.

You can't sue someone for lying. Slander and libel generally don't work either as "public" people Egalitariat Aug 2012 #1
Thank you much for the info. Strange how political entities can say pretty much anything... BlueJazz Aug 2012 #2

Lack those protections in the US. That's why Hollywood actors always sue in England. They have a chance to win in court there; no chance here.
