A PSA from Clayton Williams to Todd Akin

"Don't make the same mistake I made, pardner...well, ya didn't listen."

Clayton Williams stirred controversy during his 1990 campaign for governor of Texas with a botched attempt at humor in which he compared rape to weather. Within earshot of a reporter, Williams said: “As long as it's inevitable, you might as well lie back and enjoy it.”

As all of us in Texas remember, Williams had a 10 point lead over Ann Richards in the gubernatorial race when he made this comment to reporters. This turned the race around, and Ann would end up winning. Yes, even in red, red Texas, we were outraged.

As I read that was also a major breach against Texas decorum.
