Even if he drops out and is replaced by a more sanitized Republican (who likely believes all the same things as Akin, but is more sanitized about it).
Just ignore the replacement and continue to run against Akin and never so much as mention the name of whatever little drone they dredge up in his place. Only talk about Akin.

(34,179 posts)She's done a pretty decent job so far. After all, she set up the table for Akin's crash and burn, she knows what she is doing.
Besides, Akin's potential replacements are vulnerable as well. Brunner is highly corrupt, Steelman and Largent are as batshit, stupid crazy as Akin, and Talent she defeated six years ago. Not to mention any replacement will have the massive challenge of setting up a functioning political campaign almost immediately.
McCaskill, despite her faults, is a well practiced, savvy campaigner, an old style KC pol. She knows what she's doing, after all she set up Akin to kneecap his campaign, vaulting her into close contention if not outright winning an election that she was losing handily up until a couple of days ago.

(24,412 posts)Any potential replacement candidate should be asked whether he/she agrees with Akin and watch them squirm as they try to explain that they don't share Akin's views on a woman's ability/inability to get pregnant if raped but still believe that women shouldn't be able to terminate a pregnancy caused by rape. This could really go a long way in splashing some cold water on anti-choice philosophy.
