Soledad O達rien - This time mocking Christine O'Donnell with "Define Marxist"

@rudepundit
Sweet Jesus, I love that Soledad O'Brien has decided she has eaten enough shit for one lifetime:

Soledad O’Brien tries to get Christine O’Donnell to define the word ‘Marxist’

“Why do you think they’re Marxist?” O’Brien asked. “I mean, you kind of throw the words socialist and Marxist around that are not necessarily, I think, anchored in definitions of socialism and Marxism. So give me the definition.”

“Well, they absolutely are,” O’Donnell replied. “They absolutely are. But let me, I’ll get to that…”

-snip-

One mistake she probably won’t make again is calling herself a “policy wonk” in front of O’Brien. Earlier in the segment she’d mentioned that “policy wonks like me” read a lot of statistics and figures that apathetic youth don’t. “You’re a policy wonk now? When did that happen?” O’Brien asked a moment later, prompting O’Donnell to change the term, then change the subject.

“Well, I’ve been involved in politics for 20 years,” she tried to explain. “I mean, that’s what… Policy junkie. Political junkie. You know, I mean…

I recently attended a funeral for a dear, way-to-young cousin (52), and a bunch of his friends did readings from various Monty Python sketches. Everyone in the crowd had tears of laughter flowing down their faces. People were mopping their faces with tissues.

Cousin would have thoroughly loved the crowd's reaction. Just thinking about it makes me smile.

Now that's (as far as I'm concerned) the right way to do a funeral. Make 'em laugh.

I know that different groups of people have different traditions. My family is Irish. The my mother died, my brother and sister and I (there's another sister and two older brothers not in the same city) got together to mourn. We'd all be going out to the funeral in a few days. Anyway, at first we were understandably sad, and then after a bit, and a couple of drinks, we started telling stories about her and pretty soon we were laughing hysterically. My husband, who is Jewish and used to more sedate behavior upon the death of a parent, was quite shocked. I don't know if he ever really got over it!

I'll need to talk to my sons about what to do someday when they need to hold a funeral for me.

and he was only in his early 40s. He was 100% Norwegian but loved Irish music and Guinness better than nearly anything else in life. A group of his friends threw an old-sod Irish wake for him at the best Irish pub in town. Pete's pipe and cap were on the table in front of an empty chair accompanied by a full pint of stout. We drank Guinness and told "Pete stories" for hours and all left filled with both sadness but also with good humor in our shared memories of our departed friend.

The other two clips can be found in the comments under the vid screen if you open the clip in YouTube

This is where Eddie Izzard comes out on stage with them as if he was one of the originals.

Later, they have (supposedly) Grahams ashes in an urn and spill it. Hilarity ensues.

And these soundbites might sound good and noble on the surface, but the problem is there’s quantifiable data that prove that they simply don’t work, ...

I would suspect that a "Policy Wonk" wouldn't make that comment ... But that's just the opinion of someone that analyzes and drafts policies for a living.

"Where in the Constitution is separation of church and state?" O'Donnell asked while Democrat Chris Coons, an attorney, sat a few feet away.

Coons responded that O'Donnell's question "reveals her fundamental misunderstanding of what our Constitution is. ... The First Amendment establishes a separation."

She interrupted to say, "The First Amendment does? ... So you're telling me that the separation of church and state, the phrase 'separation of church and state,' is in the First Amendment?"

39. I think using the word 'Marxist' is a reflex reaction for Christine O'Donnell
Mon Aug 20, 2012, 04:06 PM
Aug 2012

During the last senate race she had, her opponent, Chris Coons, had written a satirical college article called 'The Bearded Marxist'. Christine O'Donnell tried to play that as Chris Coons was actually a Marxist and used that about every 2 minutes of her campaign. Nobody outside Faux News actually bought into her argument and ultimately she lost by 17 points.

about the article from Wiki:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chris_Coons

During the campaign, a controversy arose surrounding an article Coons wrote in 1985 for his college newspaper, entitled "Chris Coons: The Making of a Bearded Marxist".[16] In it, he describes his transformation from a Republican to what Fox News described as a "Democrat suspicious of America's power and ideals."[17] Dave Hoffman, a Coons campaign spokesman, said the title of the article was designed as a humorous take-off on a joke Coons' college friends had made about how his time outside the country had affected his outlook. "After witnessing crushing poverty and the consequences of the Reagan Administration's 'constructive engagement' with the South African apartheid regime, he rethought his political views, returned to the America he loved and proudly registered as a Democrat," Hoffman said in a statement to Politico.[18]

According to Fox News, Coons was "targeted by Republicans" over the 25-year-old piece. Coons himself downplayed the article, as well as controversial past statements by his opponent Christine O'Donnell, saying that voters were interested in current issues such as job creation and the national debt and were not "particularly interested in statements that either of us made 20 or 30 years ago."[17] David Weigel, writing in Slate, opined: "If the Tea Party Express slings the 'bearded Marxist' nonsense, I doubt it will work."[19]

So I think because she screamed about Coons being a Marxist about 200000000 times during the election that it's just her 'go-to' insult of any candidate. She really had nothing to back it during the 2010 election and even less for when she's on TV jabbering about whatever.

Why anyone gives this loser a microphone these days is a joke. Even the Tea Party distances themselves from her (they uninvited her to their last convention since Sarah Palin doesn't want anything to do with O'Donnell) and the Delaware GOP party can't stand her.
