Am I crazy to hope that we don't eat each other alive but rather focus on the country and save our fire for Trump or whatever Republican shill runs in his place?

I think it's more of a problem for the candidate's supporters than the candidates themselves.

By all accounts, Hillary and Bernie were pretty cordial to each other in the 2016 primaries. It was in the voters themselves that things got nasty.
