Today's trump blatant lies - most fucked up thing any of our presidents has ever done?

We have intelligence agents on film saying one thing, we have trump today saying the exact opposite. There is video proof of the lies. It is beyond the pale.

The only realistic conclusions - he is blindingly ignorant, completely compromised, or mentally not home at all.

Can you imagine what our service members think of this? The agents in the field? Our allies? OUR ENEMIES?

I've tried all day to come to terms with this utter insanity. I can't.

Because it meant that blatant lies would work. It's how authoritarianism starts. Even if he lost the general, someone else would pick up where he left off. The only thing that has saved us so far is that he is such an incompetent authoritarian, he can't consolidate power. Seeing the gross incompetence may inoculate us against authoritarianism for a generation. Hopefully.

the professionals, not the political appointees that is, know Trump is a traitor, a criminal, blowhard, and a moron. They know he is trashing them because they are the source of his impending, ultimate comeuppance. A comeuppance which is coming down the tracks with such momentum that nothing Trump does can stop it.

Is there someone out there to make citizen's arrest since it looks like the Congress is going to do nothing? Trump is gaslighting the entire nation and it is working. No one is talking about doing anything about it so it's working. damn it!!

There have been highs and lows but what we witnessed today was just off the charts. He really is unhinged. Then The NY Times interview just topped it all. He really, really thinks he can just totally bypass Congress and get his freakin’ wall. He seems clueless that they hold the purse. And he says “Nancy” will come to him and beg for a wall. He can’t be serious but somewhere in his f’ed up brain, he believes it will happen.

If people were not worried before, they should be terrified now. Something has snapped or left the tracks. And congress is still doing nothing. They know far more than we do and yet nothing is being done to bring this madness to an end.

Not sure where this is going, but right now, I do not like the direction we are headed. I have not felt this kind of fear since he was first inaugurated.

The GOP decided long ago to become the Party of racists and cranks and uninformed voters.

The goal was a President with "just enough moving fingers to sign whatever we put in front of him." Grover Norquist

Now a racist and crank and uninformed citizen has the Top Job.

And the Republican Party is still following Trump in lockstep.

He's not crazy, not senile.

He's psychotic, and today executed a Gaslight attack upon the entire country that he knew could be verified as false, but...

He didn't care and did it anyways.

Understand something, very very important about information warfare:

First strike is frequently the *only* strike, as far as the target audience is concerned. It works like this:

Target Group is fed Data X by agent X, which is a falsehood.

Two hours, two days, whenever, agent Y emerges and refutes data X with solid evidence, and pressures agent X to retract the falsehood.

Agent X chuckles and says sure, no problem. Then retracts.

Target audience continues to believe data X despite solid evidence that it's a falsehood.

Why?

Feeding data to a person and/or target group is like pouring concrete, once data X sets, no matter what is said later, the majority of members of the target audience *just does not care* that they are accepting, repeating, and supporting falsehoods. For whatever reason, it's easier for them to do this than to stop, backtrack, and make changes in their own perception and response to data X.

Republicans know this dysfunction very well, and they will exploit if every fucking minute they can.

And it works.

And our guys never seem to clue up about.

that the R's have been in training for years. The prayer groups, the bizarre groups that operate like closed clubs, are designed to teach manipulation for the purpose of the R's taking control. Freud's nephew turned his uncle's work into tools for advertisers and there is likely R's doing the same.

Yes, you are absolutely correct, we made a fatal miscalculation and ceded precious ground and years to the core far right agenda and didn't even realize that war was being fought against us, every day, hour by hour, through talk radio, church, and the lubrication of our natural tendencies towards self indulgence and indifference to the needs of others, the evolved form of Capitalism.

This is why all billionaires are monsters.

Century of the Self is a masterful documentary that shows in great detail how Bernays appropriated his uncle's work and used it as a weapon to subdue entire cultures, all without ever firing a shot.

I consider Bernays to have been one of the most purely evil human beings to have ever existed.

I will watch it.
I do believe that advertising and the RW message intersect. A conversation with an R usually devolves into their resentment of others having something they don't have or fear that something will be taken away from them by others less deserving. Advertising tells us that we DESERVE everything, resentment follows when people realize they are not getting what they deserve.

The society is sick but I am hopeful with the new Democrats.
