curious minds want to know.

(3,344 posts)That'd be my guess.
Because, if the information was innocent all along, why didn't Trump Jr. tell everyone a year ago?

(14,531 posts)Russia? As Racheal said the other night. Concord took the discovery documents (from the court case) altered them and then put them online, claiming they hacked Mueller's files. Did someone on the right "fall" for it?

(14,624 posts)Junior would have been broadcasting it from day one.
It took those fools well over a year to come up with a response and this is all they could come up with?
Either they are lying about who was called or there was something else nefarious going on. These assholes lie about everything.
You know who does know what really happened? Mueller.

(6,355 posts)Howard Lorber. I think hes the guy who took trump to Russia in 1996 and was an co developer in one/some/all of the trump Moscow plans. A frequent visitor to trump tower and supporter of the candidate now president.
Leads me to two questions.
1) where was he when he took the call.
2) who did he call next.
The speed with which trump tweeted about this revelation tells me it was part of a coordinated message track. On the surface, it sounds like using adoption as the agenda. Peels it back a layer and theres always something Russian just under the surface.

(25,242 posts)what was the purpose/reason of this calling?

(6,355 posts)In a normal world, I get out of a meeting and start returning calls. I know. Nothing normal about this world.
Also normal world, Ive got some action steps from the meeting and or want to share some new learning. Much more likely.
This guy was part of the developer group for trump tower Moscow and jr just learned the price of approval - drop the magnitsky sanctions. So he was just informing the partners.
Just my opinion but when we learn more about the nascar guy well find out hes more that it appears on the surface.

(8,231 posts)anus. Makes sense that dotard jr would just ride right upstairs to old orange to tell him about the meeting..that is if rump didn't dial in.

(10,749 posts)Cutouts?
They clearly used the cutout approach with the Russians, using Stone and others to communicate with Assange. In turn, the Russian GRU fed hacked material through Wikileaks.
So. . . Junior phoned someone not his father.
First, I'll believe that when Mueller says so.
Second, who's to say that daddy wasn't on the other end of the phone that was registered to a "family friend"?
Third, cutouts. Family friend passes info to daddy, daddy replies to another family friend, and that family friend calls Junior.
Fourth. Family friend. Stone? Manafort? Melania? Corsi? Papadopoulos? Kilimnick?

(10,749 posts)But those in their orbit at least tried to exercise some sort of basic tradecraft. And when I say basic, I mean child-like.
The communication between the campaign, Wikileaks, and the Russians at least tried to put some distance between all of them and trump himself. But it was fantastically pathetic. It seems:
-- that they used their own phones and other devices.
-- that they saved everything, or at least to keep Bob Mueller and his troops pretty damn busy.
-- that, with only one exception, they didn't use anyone who wasn't more than one degree of separation apart from the key players.
-- that they made no attempt to conceal their actions.
On reflection, they exercised no tradecraft. Now consider this. The Russians have a pretty good track record at spy tradecraft (as do all major countries). And, yet, they made very little effort to conceal their actions. Maybe they tried to conceal specifics, but they made no effort to conceal the contacts. They sent a Russian woman - Butina - and they used Kislyak from the outset, and all other Russian contacts were oligarchs connected to the Kremlin. It's almost as if they wanted trump to be seen in contact. (That last sentence is sarcasm.)
Flynn was the director of the Defense Intelligence Agency. Granted, he did not come from the operational ranks, but surely he understood the concept of tradecraft.
But I digress.
Maybe the trumps thought it wouldn't fucking matter. He could shoot someone on fifth avenue and his poll numbers would go up. And everything he's done in the past four years pretty much substantiates this attitude. So maybe they all saw no need for concealing anything. And, yet, the efforts they did use to try to cover shit up was so fucking sophomoric.
