AB is not my favorite source but here's what was said on MSNBC, live at 10.55am EST.
The GOP is feeling serious 2020 pressure. John Cornyn resigned his seat as Senate Whip to free his time to work on his run for reelection. He and other GOPers are calling Texas a battleground. Their polling indicates there is a significant chance Trump would not carry Texas. If that happens, all down ballot GOPers (including Cornyn) are at risk (See O'Rourke/2018).
In that same vein, The larger GOP is seeing Trump's chances diminish noticeably. To that point, several blue state GOP governors are considering, or being considered as, primary challengers to Trump. One of note is Maryland's popular GOP governor, Larry Hogan.
I have no time or interest to hunt down a link for the haesitans venerunt Didymus among us, so take this as it is written or ignore it.

(62,411 posts)Hogan may actually put up a good challenge.
I would assume if he challenges Trump, he will have to bring up one or two of Trump's faults - like the constant lying or the removal from reality.

(2,678 posts)Hell have to be drafted. Sorry I just dont see that occurring. Well not sorry, just dont see it happening. Larry Hogan has said nothing about challenging Trump for the nomination. Hogan said he plans on serving his second term as governor. After that I think Hogan might run for the Senate. And Id hate for one of Marylands senators be a Republican! 😳😱😫🤮
