His lies about Iraq, Afghanistan, the economy and his polices were pretty much trash. He definitely led the country down a dark path and his SOTU speeches explained both his faulty reasoning and poor decisions.
But, in spite of that, I never thought he disrespected his proper role as a guest speaker in The Peoples House. He always stuck to protocol and he always showed due deference to the Office of the President, the Speaker and to Congress at those events.
I also had the feeling that, had he not followed proper procedures, he would have felt ashamed of himself.
Trump, on the other hand, feels no shame. Hes clearly a narcissistic sociopath with delusions of grandeur. His presentation tonight wasnt about the country, it was all about himself.
What I saw tonight was atrocious and utterly disrespectful. It was a gawd damned circus. A mockery of the nation.
When hes finally out of the White House, America is going to need an enema.

(205,320 posts)It took Trump to make Bush* into a statesman - he actually looks pretty good in comparison.

(10,491 posts)That's darkly amusing stuff.
He was a murdering racist geocidal maniac who was somehow going to be president for life.
I think the majority here legitimately believed that.
