This article is about Justice Dems, founded by Chakrabarti their plans for the Democratic Party.
Maybe youve heard the warning: The country is beset by a menace. A fringe conservative minority is holding Congress hostage, extracting radical policy concessions over the will of the majority. And its leading the nation to fiscal, environmental and moral ruin.
Maybe you havent heard this part: These dangerous conservatives are Democrats.
I am talking about the radical conservatives in the Democratic Party, said Saikat Chakrabarti. Thats who we need to counter. Its the same across any number of issuespay-as-you-go, free college, Medicare for all. These are all enormously popular in the party, but they dont pass because of the radical conservatives who are holding the party hostage.
There is going to be a war within the party. We are going to lean into it, said Waleed Shahid, the groups spokesman.

(51,018 posts)idiocy of this from beginning to end.
For the last time: if we want control of the committees, we HAVE to tolerate some conservative Democrats in our tent. These people who would "wage war" within the party need to grow the hell up, learn math, and cut this crap out.

(145,618 posts)Cenk and the Just Us Democrats started with this silly concept that fell apart From the article cited in the OP
The original idea was thrilling in its ambition, if absurdly unworkable: They would create a slate to replace Congress entirely, recruiting 435 people across both parties to run for the House, while BNC would serve as the back office for all of them, handling mail, digital, and press.
Chakrabarti, Uygur and others saw the effort begin to founder under its own weight. And in the wake of Trumps shocking win, the notion of a nonpartisan effort to replace every member of Congress with some nonpolitical person didnt seem as important as creating the sharpest possible counterweight on the left. And so after the election, Chakrabarti, Trent, Rojas, Uygur and others split off to found Justice Democrats.

(3,344 posts)But there is no war. The left part the party has the constituency and the votes. The tiny conservative side does not.

(12,265 posts)Nothing good comes out of splitting a party in two, you lose, bottom line. We can't win with these litmus tests of whether we are really democrats or not. I have walked 1000's of miles, made 1000's of calls, stuffed envelopes, worked events etc in support of democratic candidates and now because I don't go full left, I am not a democrat. Fine, I'll stay home the next time they call me to work. I certainly hope the "Justice Democrats" show up to fill my shoes because we can't win without people who work like I do.
