I'm sure many of us are already.
But CNN just announced Poppy Harlow is moderating a town hall with Howard Schultz. Jeff Zucker wants to keep Trump in office because he makes money off it. Corporate media is a threat to democracy. Zucker should be fired.

(86,612 posts)and it isn't fair trade. If I am to drink coffee, which is my one luxury in life, I will drink FAIR TRADE coffee only. And I don't mind paying a little more for it either.

(86,612 posts)I have an old fashioned Melita, all parts porcelain, and I love it. Been my mode of coffee making for over thirty years. My sister and a few friends have offered me cold brewed coffee and I like it but it's seriously stronger, caffeine-wise, than I am used to and one cup will give me the jitters! In hot weather I will ice my coffee, though.

(86,612 posts)I like the idea but that's more effort put into a cup of coffee than I am willing to provide at 5am. I'm not one for waiting any longer than need be for my good swift kick in the kidneys to get me motivated. it is a ritual for me, I do my sage blessing while waiting for the water to boil, it works out well most days.
I bet it makes a really nice cup of coffee though.

(24,324 posts)Especially if you grind the coffee the night before and put it in the filter thing ( I know..a no no) and put the filter thing on top of your preferred 5 Am cup... and pour water in a sauce pan..
Then in the AM just turn on the stove ( which you have to do anyway.)
Pour hot water into the filter... stir a bunch of times and press....
I usually make 2-3 cups so I put that much water in the pan the night before... then after pressing-- I pour the "concentrated water back into the pot.
Pour out a cup and .....good to go...
Unless you use Folgers instant coffee or one of the Keurig thingys, what could be any faster.'
Of course, the only time I even know 5 AM exists is when I have to catch a 6 AM flight !!!
LOL
Eh, whatever works best...

(86,612 posts)sounds like what I do, I grind a couple days' worth of grounds at a time and keep them in a glass apothecary jar. With the Melita, you drop the cone filter into the cone put whatever amount of grounds in and add boiling water and come back in about 2 minutes, max, and there's the coffee. I have a small cone for a one cup venture and a set with an urn that holds about five cups of coffee or three bistro mugs, that takes a little longer but not much. The Melita cone is designed to do the stirring for you as it creates a circular flow of the water through the grounds. I can only have one 12oz mug a day now, otherwise I can't sleep at night.

(24,324 posts)Happy is good..
I'm all about that ultimate bean broth first thing in the morning. I don't even eat until almost noon most days.
We both have a common desire in the morning, however we get that first beverage is as variable as actual coffee cups, but it's all good once the drink is in hand!

(24,324 posts)Wegmans Expresso.
I'm like that. every 5-6 months I'll do something else for a bag or so.
But Wegman's espresso is pretty good and CHEAPO!!
Actually I have been adding a little Hawai'ian coconut the last few days... nit usually big on flavors, though.
When I travel outside the USA I usually do espresso.....

(86,612 posts)I have a favorite roaster, and friend, who deals in fair trade only so I order by mail now that I have moved hours away from there. I've tried local roasters but none compare to the coffee I came to love over the last 15 years.

(2,201 posts)Is it because it's Poppy Harlow, in particular, is moderating the town hall, or is it because they are actually having the town hall meeting at all?
Schultz says he's running for President. Isn't it better that we know more about him? My understanding of town hall meetings is that people ask unscripted questions....then those questions are answered. If that's actually how it goes, then what's the problem?

(34,109 posts)The guy is a jerk but there is no way for a lot of people to know that if he is not given a chance to prove it to people. We watch news, the vast majority barely pay attention. We vote with some of the worst reasoning and little information at all in the country.
The media is not allowed to chose our candidate for us but they will be if they do not let people know about those who are running.

(20,577 posts)the other day and it was good. First time I had been in McDonalds for years but as long as Schultz is pontificating I'll get my emergency coffee there.
