I know three months is an eternity in politics but have we already forgot our glorious triumph in the mid terms and the reasons for it. We won :

40 House seats
367 state legistive seats
7 governors
23 out of 35 senate seats

in the recent mid terms and elected the most diverse House class in history precisely because we are better than Republicans. People of color, glbtq people, immigrants, women, et cetera vote for us precisely because we respect them and put their interests at the forefront. Anything that blurs the difference between us and the Trumplican party inures to their benefit. Political parties are like brands. They must be protected. You lose your brand. You lose everything...

I don't want to lost any seats, any state houses, or anything. But why are people acting like if we lose the VA governorship that it will imperil the whole nation? Is that so important that we are willing to throw 2 major groups of support under the bus? 2 major groups that are responsible for our recent victories. To defend someone who was a republican most of their life and has more than this stain on his record when it comes to racial issues?

We are crossing a threshold here and it's really disturbing and disheartening.
