The Tea party is a racist, extremist, corrupt party. They picked one of the most corrupt people in our country to be their leader. Trump has exposed all the corruption and the so called Republican party is going to broken into pieces.
We are witnessing a historic event, the total destruction of a national party. There is no way to predict what will fill the void after Trump and the Tea Party are destroyed after all the investigations. It's going to get ugly.
The investigations will probably go on for years. Many people are going to be indicted.
In a recent post I said we may be looking at a 1932 type of event in 2020. The Democrats may take complete control and the Republicans may be kept out of power for many years.
I am hoping we get back to our FDR New Deal roots. I hope our culture transforms back to the best economic/social system in our history.
Before the New Deal America was a cruel place. The New Deal brought justice, fairness and compassion for the first time in our history.
We started taking care of are senior citizens, the disabled. Workers rights transformed the work place. We used the government, our taxes to help all Americans. If that's radical, then call me a radical. I will carry that title proudly.
History shows us what works and what doesn't. The question is, will the American people pay attention to history or will they continue to destroy themselves?

(56,582 posts)I don't know any other sense that he "created" it; he was precisely the kind of establishment Republican they were revolting against.

(56,582 posts)I agree we're looking at an alignment on the level of 1932 or 1968. FDR was wise enough to oppose populism at the time; I hope we are too.

...on edit: this particular painting was done by Madame Shoumatoff, who was in the room with FDR when he had his fatal stroke.

(58,785 posts)We need a much deeper understanding of our problem, though. Our new ultrawealthy classes -- who find democracy an increasingly intolerable impediment to their life, liberty and pursuit of happiness -- number about 70,000 families now, and most what they don't now own outright of our nation they control through other means.
Take out Trump and Pence, and whatever other names we recognize, and they'll just move new agents in. Unless we VOTE to control our nation ourselves by taking our power back, not just putting a leash on them for as long as we can keep it there, but by destroying these new classes that have sprung up and grown like a cancer.
Of HUGE significance though the MSM buried it, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi quoted THIS from Justice Louis Brandeis to a national audience when she was sworn in a couple weeks ago:
We've all been witnessing the truth of that for decades now. Past time for everyone to understand what we've been witnessing and what we must do about it.
