____In an interview with The Breakfast Club that aired Monday, Kamala Harris addressed a batch of derogatory memes that have been circulating social media which question the legitimacy of her Blackness...
The junior senator from California was _ asked about criticism she has faced on social media for marrying a white man.
Look, I love my husband, and he happened to be the one that I chose to marry, because I love him and that was that moment in time, and thats it, Harris said.
And he loves me, she added, laughing. (CNN)
...husband confirms!

(55,445 posts)According to them, Harris is also some kind of fuckslut who slept her way to prominence...
(And no, it's not just the nutbars saying this, some pretty prominent names in the liberal pundisphere were circulating this last month on Twitter)

(5,231 posts)I suspect that we don't have much say in it.
I say this as a woman who wanted no one (truly), and ended up living life with a wonderful human being who makes my life a little brighter every single day. He's the PB to my J
I think that love finds US, and I would have it no different.
Also, smirky, we must be on the same schedule tonight lol. So nice talking with you.

(63,221 posts)Your story gives me hope! I also am kind of an introvert who doesn't really have much of an interest in coupling up, but it would be nice if I stumbled upon it like you!
I guess you struggle with insomnia a bit too, right?
Luckily, I am working from home tomorrow since we are supposed to get a storm here in Boston. Hope you get some sleep as well! Nice chatting with you!

(5,231 posts)And yes, I'm an insomniac. Some nights worse than others. Tonight is a bad night.
The stumbling towards love is odd. Keep your eyes open. You never, ever know where/who/when. I sure didn't. I wonder sometimes how it happens the way it does.
As for me, I'm in Detroit at the moment. Good night, friend! Dream good dreams.

(63,221 posts)for coffee or lunch or something! It's a nice city. I grew up in a very small town in upstate NY, but have lived in Boston, then San Francisco, then NYC (Manhattan - all over) and now back in Boston.
So you are in Detroit? Did you get hit with the polar vortex cold spell last week? I was so sorry for you guys in the mid-west. It was freezing here, but nothing like what you had. I have never been to Detroit, but went on a business trip to some place in northern Michigan - I don't even remember where it was, but it was very pretty.
I will keep my eyes open. I think part of my problem is that I just don't have my "radar" on. I can tell that certain men are interested, but I definitely think I give off a "keep away" vibe. I just find being single so easy and comfortable. It doesn't bother me, so I'm not too motivated to make an effort. Anyway, sorry to go on. Insomnia kind of does that to you!

As for the polar vortex, oh yes, right in the thick of it. So very, very cold. I never remember feeling anything like that, and I have been in Michigan my whole life. Was going stir crazy. Couldn't go out for those few days (asthma) and it about drove me crazy! But that isn't far of a drive, come to think of it
I bet your business trip was to Traverse City...beautiful up there!
Thank you so much for the chat, it improved my mood last night as well as today, and I needed it.

(17,304 posts)I haven't noticed much media attention in regards to her personal life, at least not yet.
That shouldn't be at the forefront anyway. It's her proposed policies that matter.
