I speak some Italian, and was practicing a bit with a native born Italian friend while we were grocer shopping. This fat, ugly guy comes up and yells at me to go back to Mexico if I want to speak Spanish. And I and my friend are both about as "white" looking as they come. For those of you back East, just a reminder, Western States are really large geographic areas. So Tucson (closest large AZ population center) to El Paso is at least five hours, one way. Phoenix is an a additional two hours.

56. I have been at events (most often concerts)

where the Fire Marshals have halted the proceedings, announced that the venue was over-capacity and that for everyone's safety, they were shutting it down. I always thought that was extreme until 2003, when a fire broke out at a concert for Great White in Rhode Island due to pyrotechnics that went horribly awry and 100 people died and over 200 were injured.

So when Fire Marshals do an estimate of crowd size, they're generally bang on.
