Note that I did not say "If Donald Jr. is indicted..."
Donald Jr. will be indicted. It might be sooner. It might be later. It might initially be for process crimes. But an indictment of Donald Jr. seems to be a foregone conclusion, just as an indictment of Roger Stone was a forgone conclusion for several months.
It will happen.
At that point, the firewall around Trump will have been breached. Mueller will have reached the family circle. No longer can he throw out the "coffee boy" excuse.
The question is, how will Trump react at that point? Will he go bonkers, attempt to have Mueller fired? Will he attempt to throw his own son to the wolves? Will he start issuing pardons left and right?
I feel we are on the precipice of some major shakings that will take place once Don Jr. is indicted. I just don't know what they will be.

You will see that stupid is alive and well, long after one has been read his Miranda rights.

(4,131 posts)1. Trump pardons Jr. immediately and claims the indictment is a partisan witch hunt as he is always saying.
2. Dems in the house move for and successfully impeach Trump.
3. Repubs in the senate refuse to convict.
4. It is up to us to kick him out in 2020.

(22,037 posts)I've read elsewhere that if Trump is part of the conspiracy, he cannot pardon someone charged in the conspiracy. The other day, Louise Mensch (I know...) wrote that senior someone from SCOTUS (not a justice) delivered such a message to the White House.
To be clear, I have no idea if any of that is true but it would be sweet if Trump's pardon powers did have some restrictions.
We live in interesting times if you're a Constitutional scholar.

(9,213 posts)So all Trump's stuff is out in the open and he is named as an unindicted co-conspirator, so he won't have power to do much. Then House will Impeach.

(1,682 posts)Mueller will wait so that any of Trump's over the top reactions will be after Mueller is mostly finished. As a result, the firings and other fascist moves will mostly be too late.

What I'm really intrigued by is the rumor that Kushner has been cooperating and wearing a wire.

(10,136 posts)Trump will try to spin it as Jr going off to manage family affairs in - Russia? Saudi Arabia? somewhere where we don't have an extradition treaty?
Question is, will Jr be allowed to take his Secret Service protection with him?

(23,233 posts)2) Individual 1 strokes out;
3) after a month or so of convalesence, he resumes his office and tries to write out (in crayon, of course) full pardons for every member of his family; also orders Barr to fire Mueller. Barr complies to prevent another stroke by Individual 1.
4) The House impeaches him, causing another presidential stroke; trial begins in the Senate with Donny heavily sedated and wearing a neat white jacket with lo-o-o-ong sleeves.
5) The GOP-controlled Senate fails to convict, and we're stuck with having to throw his fat a** out in 2020. Fortunately for us, he can't campaign in that neat jacket, and the GOP nominates Pence instead. GOP loses White House in a landslide not seen since Washington's election, winning only Kansas and Mississipi. Senate & House also go Dem. in major shift that buries GOP.
