"SNIP....
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) said that the Senate would hold an upcoming vote on the Green New Deal resolution introduced last week by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and Sen. Ed Markey (D-MA), CNBC reports.
Said McConnell: Ive noted with great interest the Green New Deal, and were going to be voting on that in the Senate to give everybody an opportunity to go on record.
Axios: McConnell wants to get Senate Democrats, especially the 2020 presidential election hopefuls, on the record about their support of the sweeping climate resolution.
....SNIP"
Democratic candidates should abstain and say they are waiting to get out on the campaign trail to hear from Americans what they want. Then when a groundswell of support for the Green New Deal happens they can say that all the time. Talk about the groundswell. And the wave will turn into a tsunami including most Americans.

(15,645 posts)voters how they voted for this resolution during their campaign.
Anyone who would vote against a Democrat because they supported this resolution was never going to vote for a Democrat anyway.

(15,286 posts)mis-reading Americans and those who vote, imho. I'm sure McConnell thinks that Rs can run against a big, expensive project like this, but with manufacturing jobs fleeing and not coming back, at least not in any kind of big numbers, my sense is Americans are ready to embrace big, bold ideas that will bring back jobs.
Dems need to embrace this just like JFK's pledge to put a man on the moon. We can do it.

(3,750 posts)Things are getting obviously serious in all of the areas covered and by the 2020 it will be even more apparent. Those who DO NOT support such ideas will be looked at askance by then. I just hope that something will be done to make the situation not so dire. Republicans, to a great degree, are foolish. Or idiots. Take your pick......
And he thinks it will help Republicans in the next election.
