I'm reading more about the latest news...seems like a Federal audit was triggered because of the cost overruns/delays. There is also an issue of CA being forced to pay back the Feds over 3 billion dollars if certain deadlines are not met.

I'm thinking this is what happens with public/private endeavors--is that the case here? I'm sure it is why CO's light rail is going/has gone nowhere.

it was supposed to run up the west side of the valley from LA to SF direct with few if any stops as a high speed transit then it was rerouted to go thru all the burgs in the valley making it not high speed anymore but pedestrian commuter rail. the hijacked route was was longer and more expensive thus the huge price increases

People in SF/LA can get to either point via flights. Those in the valley must travel about a couple of hours to get to the nearest airport to do so. A railway system is much more needed here. At the very least an extension of BART or the ACE train would be helpful.

I’m saddened by the latest news. We’re so behind other developed nations when it comes to public transportation.
