(11,736 posts)People aren't very much into the use of the term "libtard" without any kind of context.
griloco
(832 posts)One, like TlolocW and nini, either gets it or, like squinch, they don't.
I channel Casey here...
"And now the leather-covered sphere came hurtling through the
air,
And Casey stood a-watching it in haughty grandeur there.
Close by the sturdy batsman the ball unheeded sped
"That ain't my style," said Casey. "Strike one!" the umpire said."

(11,736 posts)I actually got that it was sarcasm or satire. I saw the other responses and figured I would throw my 2 cents in.
Humor is often difficult to convey on a forum, unless there is an established context or history with a poster. People might know a poster like the Rude Pundit or The Ferret and assume their posts adhere to a recognized style. I am sure if you keep it up, that people will start to associate you with your style and eventually say, "Oh that is griloco's style, he's funny... or whatever.

(2,678 posts)Libtard & Democrat Party. I know theyre only words, words used by ignorant people on the right and I shouldnt let it rile me up. But rile me up it does. When I hear someone on the right, on tv, say Democrat Party I yell at the screen (yeah, dumb, I know) Its Democratic Party, you asshole. Makes me feel better, anyway. 🤪
Anything with "tard" at the end of it pushes my buttons. I worked for 14 years with people with intellectual and other developmental disabilities.
For me it is the association with those people to an insult that makes it a difficult word to see used. Democrat, not used to describe a particular member of the Democratic Party also gets me. I am a Democrat because I belong to the Democratic Party. I have never belonged to the "Democrat Party" because there has never been a "Democrat Party". It is actually used on purpose and not necessarily out of ignorance, to disparage members of our party. That is what pisses me off.

(2,678 posts)18th birthday way. This would be 1976, the Bicentennial year. Actually Ive always been partial to Democrats. I think it was my admiration of President Kennedy. Im speaking of a few years after his asassination, which I was all of 5-1/2 years old. By the time of Bobbys murder I already knew what my party would be. I still remember the elation I felt when BK won the California Democratic primary, even at 10 years old. My elation soon turned to sorrow on that June day 51 years ago. So I was Democratic even before I registered. Jimmy Carter, who, I feel, gets a raw deal. I would take four years of Jimmy Carter over Trump, or any of the GOP presidents, in a heartbeat. Nixon? Nuff said, Ford? Meh. Reagan? No, hell no & FUCK NO, Poppy Bush? Ditto, Bush, Jr? Double Ditto. I never hated any of them, though I didnt care for them. 4orty5ive is a new feeling for a president. Okay, sorry for this long winded post. 🤫🤫🤔 Oh yeah, Ive never, ever voted for a Republican. I will never vote ReTRUMP-Lie-Con. Never. NEVER!!! 😡👿👺😈☠️

Check out Arkin's latest project on Netflix...."The Kominski Method" with Michael Douglas. He is still brilliant.
