Trump and former Vice President Biden are in a dead heat in a hypothetical 2020 matchup among Texas voters, according to a new poll from the left-leaning Public Policy Polling firm.
According to the poll, Biden trails Trump 46 percent to 49 percent in the hypothetical matchup, falling within the poll's margin of error. Five percent of those polled said they were "not sure" who they would choose.
The close matchup is notable for deep-red Texas, which has not favored a Democratic presidential candidate since Jimmy Carter in 1976.
The poll also found Trump's approval rating underwater among Texas voters at 48 percent. The president, according to the poll, had a 47 percent disapproval rating among those surveyed.

(9,127 posts)After the 2016 elections, a lot of the voters not only in the other states of Dixie, but also formerly Blue Wall states like Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Michigan, and Ohio no longer have any justification for pointing fingers at us Texans.
I think we Texas Democrats may cause the Big Red Electoral Vote Capstone to crumble in 2020. Cant say that about Trump-humping Floridians now, can we?

(14,565 posts)Not even close. Florida has 36% self-identified conservatives compared to 44% in Texas.
That is all that matters. There is virtually zero chance that Texas would vote blue simultaneous to Florida red. One is a true swing state and the other owned some recent hype due to Beto.

(9,127 posts)Democratic Presidential candidates should have to prepare for the eventuality that all those Florida right-wingers who came out of the woodwork in 2016 and 2018 will do so again. I dont like it, but I think we have to be realists.

(63,221 posts)Kiss democracy goodbye. The possibility of him as president for another four years is inconceivable to me. I honestly think I would lose my mind.
