Excerpt:
MANCHESTER, N.H.
Bernie Sanders is getting ready for a second run for president.
WMUR has learned that an email announcing the Vermont senator's plans to run for president will be sent to his supporters on Tuesday.
A key Sanders supporter told WMUR that one of Sanders closest advisors informed the supporter that the announcement will be made in an email. It was not made clear to the supporter whether it will be an outright announcement of a candidacy or an announcement of an exploratory committee.
The Hill on Saturday, citing two people familiar with the plan, reported that an announcement of an exploratory would be made this week. Politico reported on Saturday that Sanders has recorded a video in which he says he is running for president.
The Sanders supporter who spoke with WMUR was unsure if the email announcement will include the video, although the supporter said it is likely. The supporter said also plans for at least one announcement speech, if not two, are in the works.

(2,533 posts)No thanks. I will only vote for a candidate that shows loyalty to Democrats by remaining a Democrat.
That and and the issues with taxes, bashing Democrats, multiple internal problems with the past campaign, etc pretty much decides this for me.
Nope, nope, nope for myself and 99% of my friends and family. Even those that supported him in the past.
But hey... The debates will be entertaining and will refresh memories.
I'll have popcorn ready.
ONLY!!! 2019 and beyond.
And for those who will ask who I support at this Time... Harris for the win.

(17,390 posts)Even after running for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2016 as a Democrat, Bernie once again identified as an independent. Then, last year in Vermont, he ran for the Democratic nomination, then declined to accept the nomination. But hey! Maybe this time, Bernie means it and plans to really join the party and accept the nomination.

Sanders to run as a Democrat but not accept nomination
Bernie Sanders is running for the Democratic nomination in Vermont but he wont accept it if he wins.
The famously independent senator, who briefly joined the Democratic Party to run in the 2016 New Hampshire presidential primary only to un-enroll later, officially announced Monday that he would seek a third term in the Senate this fall. He also said that hell pull the same maneuver that he did in his 2006 and 2012 Senate races: Running as a Democrat, declining the nomination when he wins and then running as an independent.
The move makes it virtually impossible for another Democrat to seek the partys nod. And it allows Sanders to loom large in the party primary in August, but still preserve his independence.
But the move also comes at a time when Sanders supporters are pushing for changes to the presidential nominating process as part of the Democratic National Committee unity reform commission. One priority is to open up the partys primaries to voters who arent registered as Democrats.
